Sonmi AI mystery lesson · Part 3
The Glasshouse Map
Sonmi returns to the greenhouse for the next chapter: a silver line appears on the map, a covered terrarium seems to breathe, and the word Wait may be a warning rather than a threat. Read, listen, speak, and solve the case with patience.
B2 reading, listening comprehension, science connection, evidence sequencing, and speaking practice with voice-to-text plus typed fallback.
Sonmi returns expecting a normal problem, but this time nothing has been stolen.
A New Kind of Case
Read Chapter 1. What is strange about the new case, and how is it different from the moon gecko case?
Sonmi and the Glasshouse Map The moon gecko case should have ended with the insects safely returned to their container. Instead, the next morning, Sonmi found Mr. Dao standing outside the greenhouse with a clipboard in one hand and a plastic rain cover in the other. "No gecko is missing," he said quickly. "No food is missing either. But someone has changed the map." The map was pinned beside the greenhouse door. It showed the reptile house, the orchid tunnel, the moss tables, the mist machine, and the small quarantine room where new animals rested before meeting visitors. Last night, after Sonmi left, someone had drawn a thin silver line across the map. It began at the moon gecko case, passed the moss tables, and ended at the quarantine room. At the end of the line was one word: Wait. Sonmi looked through the glass. The greenhouse was quieter than usual. The moon gecko was awake, pressed against the warm side of its case. Across the room, a new terrarium sat under a dark cloth. Something inside made the cloth rise and fall, very slightly, as if the box itself were breathing.
